Beyond CAD to accelerate design
Today’s design workflows require engineers to take on multiple roles. In addition to designing, they must manage and collaborate with their data. With 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS, they can continue to use their favorite CAD software, while easily accessing cloud-based data management and collaboration through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, making the design process more efficient and maximizing the value of their data.
For those of you who haven’t yet adopted this solution, let me tell you more about it. And for those of you who are already using 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS, stick around as I’ll be talking about some new features that might interest you.
Getting started is easy
Getting started is easy with the Welcome app. Install and launch SOLIDWORKS Connected from the Welcome app to access all of the platform’s capabilities in one place within your browser. The Welcome app includes short instructional videos on how to get started, navigate the interface, and manage content, as well as examples to familiarize you with the functionality. It also offers instant access to an online community and SOLIDWORKS technical support for any questions.
Access to guided tours
From within 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS, you can access guided quick tours that show you the user interface features through interactive pop-ups. These tours include an overview of the interface, how to save to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, and more.
Saving data on the platform
Saving data to the platform is easy and allows you to quickly store, access, and manage your information. You can do this from the standard toolbar, the file menu, or by using the shortcut CTL + Alt + S. Then, select a bookmark and a Collaborative Space to store and collaborate on projects. Plus, you can see the status of your data right in the design tree, including revisions and lock status.
External collaboration
Take external collaboration to the next level by inviting anyone directly from SOLIDWORKS to view and mark up a 3D model in the cloud. Get real-time feedback and easily iterate by sharing a link from SOLIDWORKS.
Work from anywhere in offline mode
Offline mode allows you to work from anywhere, even without an Internet connection. Open the desired file and save it to your local cache, then activate offline mode. Once you’re back online, sync your model with the platform to keep the latest revision.
Ready for production
When you are ready to send your design to the shop floor, you can set the maturity level and update all related components. Additionally, you can expand your toolset with more roles from the 3DEXPERIENCE WORKS portfolio, including simulation and manufacturing.
